Kris Teng has litigated every phase of a case, from patent acquisitions to filing, inter partes review, discovery, claim construction, settlement discussions, summary judgment, trial, and appeal. His business acumen, honed through years of management experience, ensures that litigation activities align with his clients’ broader business objectives within their respective industries. In addition, his breadth of technical experience permits him to effectively litigate patents across a wide range of technologies, including semiconductors, telecommunications, networking, financial and data encryption, HVAC systems, and in vitro fertilization.
Kris graduated summa cum laude, Order of the Coif, from The University of Texas School of Law, where he was named Grand Chancellor for ranking at the top of his class. He served as an editor for the Texas Law Review and on the U.S. Supreme Court Clinic, where he assisted the Steinbeck family in a copyright dispute by drafting a cert petition. He also served as a research assistant for law and economics/finance professors Bernard Black, Matthew Spitzer, and Mira Ganor. Mr. Teng received his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, with a concentration in Genetics and Development, from Cornell University. There, he also served as Chief Financial Officer for two groups of entrepreneurs seeking funding for their business plans.
Kris joined Bayes PLLC from the in-house litigation department of Midea, a Chinese Fortune 500 Company. Before that, he worked as an associate for Robins Kaplan LLP, winner of The American Lawyer’s inaugural “IP Litigation Department of the Year”; as an associate for a Houston-based patent-litigation boutique; and as a law clerk for a federal judge. Before law school, Mr. Teng worked as a manager for a multinational consumer-electronics company based in Shanghai and on cancer-treatment software for a medical-IT company.
