Philip Wang brings to Bayes his extensive experience in IP procurement, enforcement, and counseling, gained through a decade-long career in private practice and as an in-house counsel of multinational corporations.
Prior to Bayes PLLC, Philip has worked for Sony Corporation in Japan, Kangxin Partners, PC in China, Prebeg, Faucett & Abbott, PLLC in the United States, and most recently SZ DJI Technology Co., Ltd. in China. Having practiced in different countries, Philip has developed unique perspectives on global IP protection, and can work fluently using Chinese, English, and Japanese languages. Philip is determined to bring his global vision, breadth of knowledge, and trilingual ability to Bayes clients.
Philip litigates patent cases frequently before the U.S. federal district courts and the United States International Trade Commission. His litigation expertise extends across all corners of patent litigation, including client counseling, pre-suit investigation, drafting of pleadings, motions, and infringement and invalidity contentions, advocating claim construction, leading discovery, and participating in hearings and trials. He also handles appellate briefs before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and advocates in complex commercial arbitration before the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre. Philip led the global IP litigation and copyright compliance team at the world’s largest drone company, and obtained favorable results for the company in various U.S. district courts and at the E.U. customs and trade shows.
Aside from chairing contentious matters, Philip is also highly experienced in patent drafting and prosecution, having handled hundreds of patent applications before the USPTO, SIPO, JPO, and EPO in a wide variety of technical fields, including autonomous driving, artificial intelligence, semiconductor and its manufacturing process, image sensors, cameras, lenses, various display technologies (LCD, LED, OLED, etc.), telecommunication, chips, LiDARs, drones, and e-cigarettes. Philip is capable of drafting high-quality and complex patent applications in both Chinese and English. As an in-house counsel, he also enhanced the IP awareness and protection for his employers through numerous FTO, due diligence, licensing, and pre-suit investigation projects.
