Dr. Wenchong Shu is a registered patent agent with a decade of experience in patent practice, including prosecution, litigation, opinions, and due diligence, in a wide spectrum of technical fields covering quantum technology, microfabrication and nanotechnology, semiconductors and integrated circuits, optics and laser technology, optoelectronic devices and electronic devices, information and cryptographic technology, network and telecommunication technology, computer hardware and software, e-commerce and business methods, etc.
Wenchong’s patent practice focuses on preparing and prosecuting US and foreign patent applications; providing invalidity/non-infringement, freedom to operate, and patentability opinions; assisting post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO); and assisting patent litigation before federal district courts and Section 337 investigations before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC).
Wenchong has a broad technical background and expertise in science and engineering. While pursuing his Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics in Stevens Institute of Technology, Wenchong conducted research on quantum information, and also received two Master’s degrees in Optical Engineering and Electrical Engineering, respectively. At University of Science and Technology of China, he contributed in a Chinese national “973” research program for a satellite-ground quantum cryptography communication network.
Prior to joining Bayes PLLC, Wenchong practiced at Sterne Kessler and other two IP boutique firms. Before that, Wenchong worked at an optoelectronics company as a scientist. In addition to conducting theoretical and experimental research, he taught undergraduate courses including Mechanics, Electromagnetics, and Optics at Stevens Institute of Technology.
